What each provider profile includes
- Operation type (licensed center, licensed child-care home, registered child-care home, listed family home)
- Ages the provider is licensed to serve (infant, toddler, pre-K, school age)
- Total licensed capacity (the legal maximum, not the number of open spots)
- Hours and days of operation
- Whether the provider accepts child care subsidies
- Inspection counts and deficiency counts from the state record
- Any corrective or adverse action flagged by the state
- A link to the official record and the date we last refreshed it
What it doesn’t show
The state does not publish live openings or fees. Profiles show “Fees: on enquiry” and “Openings: ask the provider.” To find out, send a free enquiry, or let us ask up to 25 providers for you with a $39 Vacancy Report.
Check a provider yourself
You can look up any operation on the official Texas HHSC child care search: childcare.hhs.texas.gov. Look at inspection history and ask about anything you see on a tour.
Help paying for care
Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) runs the state child care subsidy program through local workforce boards. Profiles show whether a provider says it accepts subsidies. Learn more at twc.texas.gov/programs/child-care or your local Workforce Solutions office.
