About DaycareVacancy
Finding child care is hard. Most searching families say it’s difficult, and many providers have empty spots that parents can’t see. (Center for American Progress, America’s Licensed Child Care Deserts, 2026.) DaycareVacancy exists to close that gap.
What we do
- List every licensed provider in Texas from public Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) data, with the facts parents ask about first.
- Explain the cost with a free 2026 calculator that applies current federal tax rules.
- Ask on your behalf. With a Vacancy Report, we email providers for you and write up who says they have an opening, what it costs and how the waitlist works.
What we are not
We are an independent information service. We are not a child care provider, a placement agency, or part of any government body, and we are not affiliated with Texas HHSC or the Texas Workforce Commission. We don’t inspect, rate or endorse providers. Always check the state record and tour before you enroll.
Our story
DaycareVacancy is from the team behind CrecheFinder, a childcare finder for parents in Ireland built on the same idea: public registers, costs explained, one enquiry. We’re starting in Texas and plan to add more states.
Data sources
- Texas HHSC, “HHSC CCL Daycare and Residential Operations Data,” data.texas.gov (dataset bc5r-88dy), refreshed weekly.
- Texas HHSC child care search: childcare.hhs.texas.gov.
- IRS guidance on the Child and Dependent Care Credit and dependent care benefits.
